Gertie's Emergency Fund
Thirteen-year-old Gertie arrived
at our Lonsdale shelter last week in crippling discomfort.
Not only was she suffering chronic ear and skin infections, but the poor old girl was covered in tumours – and, on top of that, she had painful dental disease.
We don’t know how long Gertie had been left to suffer like this without treatment. But our vets got to work quickly and carefully to relieve her of the pain she’d been subjected to for too long.
Our vets have now removed Gertie’s lumps, flushed her ears and extracted several teeth, as well as placing her on a course of antibiotics and pain relief.
Gertie has had to suffer more than she should in her golden years. But our vets say she is just lovely – and has been so delightful and cooperative during her treatment.
Our vets can’t rule out periodic infections and future flare-ups for the brave Staffordshire Bull Terrier X. But all we want is for Gertie to go to a loving home where she will be well looked after for her remaining years of life, and given the care she truly deserves.
Will you help ensure a bright future for this gorgeous
senior citizen by contributing to her treatment?
We’ll do all we can to provide ongoing support for Gertie even as she’s adopted, but as a charity 91% funded by community donations, we simply don’t have the funds to do this on our own.
We estimate the total cost of Gertie’s treatment will be $1,800.
Please donate today to help get us there.
* The goal for Gertie’s fundraiser includes surgery to flush her ears, remove her skin tumours and treat her skin and dental diseases, as well as the ongoing costs of antibiotics, pain relief, medication and rehabilitation. If her medical and care costs are less than is raised in her name, additional funds will provide care for other animals in need.
