Sketchers' Emergency Fund
We’ll never know exactly what caused Sketchers’ terrible injury, or how long he waited without help.
Wandering as a stray, poor Sketchers was found last week with
burn-like injuries all over the front of him, exposing raw skin.
The 3-year-old kitty was rushed to our Lonsdale shelter via our
RSPCA animal ambulance, where our skilled team of veterinarians carefully
cleaned his wounds and placed him on antibiotics.
Our vets believe Sketchers may have been burned by climbing
into a car engine – or, he may have had a nasty reaction to something.
But poor Sketchers’ issues don’t end at his skin injuries.
His time on the streets has led him to test positive for FIV
(feline immunodeficiency virus). While the virus is manageable with proper
treatment, Sketchers will need to be an inside-only cat once he’s ready to find
his new forever home.
Sketchers has been in so much discomfort with his skin. But
despite this, our team cannot believe how friendly he is – this gorgeous boy is
so smoochy and absolutely loves affectionately rubbing against whoever’s in his
sight.
With daily treatment, Sketchers is now on the road to
recovery – but he needs your help to get there. Our vets estimate the cost of
Sketchers’ treatment and rehabilitation will be $500.
Can you please donate today to give Sketchers the best
chance of recovering, so he’s ready to find his forever home?
* The goal for Sketchers’ fundraiser includes the ongoing costs
of antibiotics, pain relief, rehabilitation, desexing, vaccinations and
microchipping. If his medical costs are less than is raised in his name,
additional funds will provide care for other animals in need.
