Tonight, as the temperature drops below 10ºC, you might be huddled by the heater, staying cosy in thick jumpers and warm socks, perhaps with a furry friend curled up on your lap.

Please spare a thought for the 300+ animals who are spending the night in semi-enclosed kennels and thin metal sheds in Australia’s oldest shelter.

Winter at our rundown Lonsdale shelter is brutal for animals and humans alike. Our big-hearted staff and volunteers do whatever it takes to keep animals warm, dry and healthy, but they can’t do it without your kindness.

As the temperature plummets, the wind howls and the rain comes lashing down, will you wrap vulnerable animals in your love and warmth?

The bills are already starting to pile up:
  • $1,438 to fix a broken washing machine
  • $4,263 to fix and replace heat lamps in the dog kennels
  • $17,800 in predicted electricity costs to heat and run the Lonsdale shelter through July and August
In the winter months, we go through so much extra bedding to keep our animals warm and dry - especially in the dog kennels which are partially exposed to the elements.

As power prices surge, we're struggling to afford to run industrial washing machines and driers all day, to keep up with demand.

Will you help cover the rising costs of caring for animals in need this winter?

Your compassion is urgently needed to help our animals get through this last harsh winter at Lonsdale before we all move to our new home in Glenthorne National Park next year.

How does your kindness help?

This winter, homeless animals will come to us cold, afraid and alone.
You can help wrap them in love, warmth and care.

You help keep the 300+ animals currently at our Lonsdale shelter warm and cared for through the cold winter months

You help provide medication and care for the 80+ cats who will suffer from cat flu throughout July and August

You help keep our washing machines and driers running to provide warm, dry bedding for shelter animals

You help keep our inspectors and rescue officers on the road, so they can reach more animals that have been left out in the cold
