Woodstock, a two-year-old Staffy cross, was just hours from death.
Entering the house under a search warrant, responding to a cruelty report, Inspector Stuart feared the worst.
“I noticed what I thought was a deceased dog lying on a blanket in the corner of a lounge room.”
Then Woodstock moved, roused by hope.
“What I remember most, aside from his shocking degree of emaciation, was that Woodstock was the coldest living mammal I’ve ever handled,” Inspector Stuart recalled.
He had no time to lose.
Woodstock was rushed to SASH (Small Animal Hospital) for emergency treatment, before being transferred into the care of the RSPCA vet team.
After following a veterinary-supervised feeding program and spending many months in foster care, Woodstock not only survived, but is thriving – thanks to you.
Woodstock’s former owners were convicted of causing serious harm and sentenced to four-month prison terms, suspended on an 18-month good behaviour bond.
